When the Door Closes Suddenly – Trusting God When Plans Change
Share
We’ve all been there: an opportunity that looked perfect suddenly slips away. A relationship ends. A job falls through. A dream you've prayed over gets shut down without warning. It’s confusing. It’s frustrating. And sometimes, it just hurts.
But what if a closed door isn’t rejection… but redirection?
In John 13:7, Jesus tells His disciples, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
This verse is for the moments when you’re left standing in front of a door you thought God opened... only to watch it shut without explanation.
It’s in those moments that faith becomes more than a feeling. It becomes a choice.
Closed doors aren't always punishment. Sometimes, they’re protection from something not meant for you. Sometimes, they're preparation for something even better. God sees what we can't. He knows the timing, the ripple effect, and the version of you that will be most ready for what’s ahead.
If you're staring at a door that slammed shut, take a breath. God is still working. What feels like the end may actually be the rerouting that leads you exactly where you’re meant to go.
A Prayer to Carry:
Lord, help me trust You when things change unexpectedly. Give me peace when plans fall apart and faith to believe that You're always leading me to what's best, even when I can’t see it yet.
