A Devotional for the Girl Who’s Learning to Forgive

💗 Forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting.

Forgiveness isn’t pretending it didn’t hurt. It’s not excusing what they did. It’s choosing to release the weight of bitterness so it doesn’t keep weighing down your heart.

You can forgive and still have boundaries. You can forgive and still feel the pain. Forgiveness is less about the other person and more about your healing.

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” — Ephesians 4:32

You’re not weak for forgiving. You’re strong for trusting God to handle what you no longer want to carry.

💐 Forgiveness is a process, not a performance

Sometimes you forgive… and the hurt creeps back in. That doesn’t mean you failed; it means you’re healing. It’s okay to bring your hurt to God again and again.

Forgiveness doesn’t always come with closure. But it does come with peace when you let God into the ache.

“Lord, how many times shall I forgive? … Jesus answered, ‘I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.’” — Matthew 18:21-22

Forgiveness isn’t a one-time act. It’s a heart posture you grow into. And God is patient as you grow.

🌷 Forgiveness sets you free

Holding onto bitterness doesn’t punish the other person; it punishes your peace. When you release the weight of what they did, you make room for what God wants to do in you.

“He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted… to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.” — Isaiah 61:1

Your heart deserves freedom. And Jesus came to give it to you, even in the hardest moments.

💌 Let this be your reminder:

You can forgive without forgetting.
You can let go without letting them back in.
You can heal without an apology.

God sees your wounds. He holds your heart. And He’ll walk with you through the mess of mercy.

💕 Before you go...

Here’s your gentle reminder:

🌸 Forgiveness isn’t weakness... it’s spiritual strength
🌸 You’re allowed to feel it all and still choose peace
🌸 God is proud of the healing you’re fighting for
