A Devotional for the Girl Who Lost Someone She Loves
Share
💗 Grief feels like a storm you didn’t see coming.
If you’ve lost someone you love, your world may feel shattered into pieces you can’t put back together. The days are heavy, the nights are long, and the ache in your heart feels impossible to carry. You may wonder where God is in the middle of your pain, or why He allowed this loss to happen.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” — Matthew 5:4
The truth is, grief does not mean God has left you. Loss is a painful reminder that this world is broken, but it’s also an invitation to experience the comfort of the One who promises to be near to the brokenhearted.
💐 Grief is not a sign of weak faith
Sometimes Christians feel guilty for grieving, as if tears mean a lack of trust. But even Jesus wept when His friend Lazarus died (John 11:35). Mourning doesn’t mean you lack belief; it means you deeply loved.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
Your grief is evidence of the love you carried, not a failure of your faith. God holds every tear and walks with you through the valley of sorrow.
🌷 Hope is still alive in Christ
When you’ve lost someone, it can feel like joy and hope have been buried with them. But Scripture reminds us that because of Jesus, death does not have the final word.
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain…” — Revelation 21:4
Eternal hope is not wishful thinking, it’s a promise. Your story and the story of the one you love are not over. In Christ, there is reunion, restoration, and a day where grief will be no more.
💌 Let this be your reminder:
You don’t have to hide your tears for God to hold you.
You don’t have to rush your healing, grief takes time.
You don’t have to fear that joy will never return. In Christ, hope is secure.
💕 Before you go…
Here’s your gentle reminder:
🌸 Grief does not mean you’ve lost your faith, it means you’ve lost someone you love deeply.
🌸 God promises His presence in your pain and His comfort in your sorrow.
🌸 Hope is alive because Jesus has overcome death.
